Step into your 2024 alter ego

planning outfits, sticking to your goals

We hate to be all *new year new me* before 2024 has even started, but we’re suckers for a new start. There’s no time like the new year to motivate yourself to finally dress like your Whering Moodboard.

Obviously, we don’t suggest buying a whole new wardrobe just to copy trends you’ve seen online. That’s why we’ve put together 5 moodboards showing different alter egos, so you can get your ducks in a row and shop your own closet (or your besties) or rent all the items you need to reach your style goals before the new year kicks off.

Who are you going to be next year?

how planning outfits can help you stick to your goals, planning your outfits and sticking to your resolutions

The one where you're trying to add colour

Every year we tell ourselves we need to stop buying black clothes, and we never succeed in doing it. There’s something so appealing about a colour that goes with everything, but it’s fun to add colour from time to time. Dopamine dressing is the only way we’re going to get through the January blues.

Who said fashion isn’t practical? We’re obsessed with balaclavas, and it just so happens they’re a great way to add colour to your looks, without changing your fit.

We’re not make up gurlies, but maybe we will be by the end of the year! Why not add some colour to your look using makeup? No time like the present to get creative.

If you’re feeling brave, rip the band aid off and swap out your black sweater and black tights for something colourful. We can’t all be as stunning as Lindsay Vrckovnik (@limnick), but we’re trying!

The one where you want to spice up your basics

Say it with me: basic doesn’t mean boring. Jazz up your basics with a chunky knit scarf or a colourful bag. If the time has come and you need to invest in new items, why not try a classic piece with a unique cut. We’re loving this cropped and tiered trench coat, a great take on the timeless number. Basic pieces are all the range when you invest in the right ones. Take the time to find pieces you love, and then accessorise all you want to spice it up.

The one where you watched Wednesday too intensely

If you haven’t seen Wednesday, the new Netflix show inspired by the Adams Family, we’re not impressed. Open up Netflix and take in all that good fashion inspiration. If the dark academia aesthetic and city girl style had a baby, it would be Wednesday Adams realness. If dopamine dressing isn’t for you, sink into the winter darkness and get comfortable with dark tones (paired with white) and sultry make up.

The one where you want to look effortless (but it's actually a lot of effort)

If this doesn’t sum up 2022 then what does? Why are we being told looking like we just rolled out of bed is as simple as literally rolling out of bed? We’ve tried, and trust us, it is a lot of effort looking effortless. Investing in staple pieces that make you look like you tried as soon as you put them on is the way to go. You know the long coats with fluffy cuffs? They might be the answer we’ve been looking for. The secret to looking effortless is pairing basic items with bold statement pieces to level up your fit. Be confident and no one will question it.

The one with the funky knitwear obsession

Brb, wrapping myself in knitwear until April, maybe May if the April showers are bad this year. Knitwear is a comfy and warm option, but who said it’s not stylish? Are you seeing these knitwear dresses? Knitwear deserves to be recognised beyond jumpers and scarves, so this year, we’re taking a stand. We’re inserting knitwear into our life, high fashion style.
