With the days getting darker and colder, we're reaching for our winter coats day in, day out. Being the sustainable queens we are, we've had some of them for years. So, we wanted to level up our look by up-cycling.
Join us to up-cycle our winter coats in 6 different ways, no sewing required.
Honestly, we held back. If we had more ribbons, better believe the entire coat would be covered in them. This is a really cute way to give your winter coat a little pop of colour, and tie in other parts of your outfit depending on the colour of ribbons you choose!
Another one which you can really alter to fit your vibe. Whether you use a chain belt, the chain for an old bag, or necklaces- you can layer them or keep it simple with one. It’s a really cute way to bring your jewellery to the forefront when most of your outfit is hiding behind a big, warm coat!
Again, one you can do with a chain belt, a bag chain, or a really, really long necklace. Whether the aim is to sinch your oversized coat for a little more shape to your winter outfit, or to just add a little accent to tie in with other jewellery.
Okay it might seem a bit odd, but we were trying to bring in a little Chopova Lowena, punk-y feel over here. Whether you go for both lapels, just one lapel, or another part of your coat, we thought this was a super easy way to give the coat an edgy, deconstructed feel!
Bringing together our two many affairs: Sandy Liang and Jean Paul Gaultier, with a sprinkle of Chopoba Lowena. Again, a great and easy way to add a little accent to a basic winter coat. A longer ribbon (and access to many safety pins) means you can even go as far as corseting the entire back of the coat!
We don’t have toooo much to say about this one, other than the fact that we’re obsessed mixing a more feminine accent (the ribbon) with a more streetwear item (the puffer jacket). Now can we collectively picture how cute this would look if it went all the way up the sleeve???
Tip: opt for an elastic ribbon so that you don’t have to take the ribbons off when taking off the coat!
