How to Pair Leather Leggings

Leather leggings can be difficult to wear, but there’s no denying they’re a classic staple trouser that make any outfit look 10 times more stylish.

Here are some of our favourite ways to style leather leggings:

Keep it simple: Leather leggings are a statement piece, so it's best to keep the rest of your outfit low key. Opt for a basic top, like a white t-shirt for laid back vibes or a long sleeved black top for a monochrome look.

When it comes to accessories, there’s no need to overdo it. Add your fave staple pieces and let the leather leggings do the talking.

Choose the right top: When it comes to pairing leather leggings, it's important to choose a top that compliments the cut of the leggings. A loose-fitting blouse or oversized sweater can balance out the tightness of the leather leggings and create a flattering silhouette.

Pro tip: We swear by having one tighter item and one that’s more loose fitting to balance the other out. It’s a fail safe way to style leather leggings.

Layer up: Leather leggings are a great base layer, so get creative with what you add over the top. Layering adds dimension and style to your outfit.

Make leather leggings more stylish by pairing them with a blazer, denim jacket, or oversized cardigan to create a chic and fashionable look.

Mix and match textures: Leather leggings bring texture to an outfit, but it doesn’t have to stop there. Pair leather leggings with a variety of textures such as a chunky knit sweater, a silk blouse, or a denim jacket. Experiment with different textures to create a unique and personalised look that’s sure to turn heads.

Choose the right footwear: Tread carefully, the right shoes can make or break an outfit. Leather leggings can be paired with a variety of different shoes, such as ankle boots for a classy look, sneakers for a more laid back approach, or heels if you really want to step it up.

Be sure to choose a shoe that you feel comfortable in that matches the rest of the outfit. As long as you feel confident, it’s a guaranteed serve.

Which type of clothes do you wear for different occasions?

We can’t tell you what to wear everywhere you go, but we’ve got some general tips that we keep in mind when planning outfits for different occasions. Plan your outfits on Whering and save them to lookbooks for each occasion so you only have to do the hard work once!

Formal events: For formal events like weddings, galas, and black tie dinners, it’s essential you step out in style, so we suggest opting for something fancy like a tuxedo or gown.

Materials such as silk, satin, or velvet help create a sophisticated and elegant look. There are times when it’s more important than ever to look and feel your best, and formal events are one of them.

Business events: Category is: professional but fashionable. For meetings or conferences, it’s hard to strike a balance between dressing to suit your style and wearing something work appropriate. We find blazer coords, suit trousers and knee length pencil skirts are a good way to go.

If you’re working in a stricter office environment, choose neutral colours such as black, navy, or grey to create a polished and professional look. A good outfit can give you the confidence you need to deliver your best work, so invest time in planning outfits you can trust.

Casual events: We’re talking brunch, picnics and parties, all things casual and fun. Relax to the max with comfortable (and stylish!) clothing such as jeans, shorts, or a sundress. Whatever you wear in a casual setting, there are few rules.

It’s all about finding something chill that speaks to you. Experiment with what’s in your wardrobe and find a style that suits you. Our casual faves include leather jackets, Chelsea boots, long skirts, baggy jeans and oversized jumpers.

Sporting events: It’s hard to dress for sporting events because style often has to be sidelined. For baseball games or tennis matches, you should opt for comfortable and practical clothing such as shorts, t-shirts, and trainers. Add accessories such as a baseball cap or sunglasses to protect yourself from the sun and take on the game with confidence.

As much as we love fashion, when we’re playing sports our style takes a back seat. Although, there’s plenty of ethical and cute sustainable activewear - so check out the Whering Marketplace and you might find something you love.

Cultural events: We love being cultured queens. For museum trips, gallery visits and nights at the theatre opt for day dresses, leather trousers, flared trousers or blazers to give your look a smart casual edge.

If you fancy upping the anti, choose sophisticated materials such as silk or chiffon to create an elegant and refined look.

What to wear to a funeral

Deciding what to wear to a funeral is never easy. It’s important to get it right to pay your respects.

They are a few easy tips you can follow to avoid causing offence:

Choose subdued colours: Black is the traditional colour for mourning, but other colours such as navy, grey, or dark brown can also be appropriate. Avoid bright or flashy colours, as they can be seen as disrespectful. Everyone is different, so check the invite to see if bright colours are welcomed.

Opt for conservative clothing: Choose clothing that is conservative and modest, such as a dark-coloured suit or dress. Avoid clothing that is too tight, short, or revealing, as it can be seen as inappropriate.

Keep accessories simple: Keep accessories to a minimum and choose pieces that are simple and understated. Avoid jewellery that is too flashy or distracting. It’s not a fashion show, so there’s no need to over accessorise beyond your daily jewellery.

Wear comfortable and respectful shoes: Choose shoes that are comfortable and subtle. Avoid flip flops or other casual footwear, and opt for dress shoes or flats instead. Bold heels or brightly coloured shoes are also not appropriate for most funerals.

Wear something subdued that blends in the rest of your outfit. Black or neutral footwear is usually the best way to go.

Consider cultural or religious customs: It’s super important to respect religious and cultural customs, especially at a funeral. If the funeral is held within a particular cultural or religious tradition, make sure to respect their customs regarding clothing and appearance to avoid causing additional upset on the day.

What should you wear to a concert?

It’s hard to know what to wear to concerts, since the dress code can vary depending on the type of music and the venue.

We got your back bestie, here are some general tips on what to wear to a concert:

Comfortable clothing: Wear clothing that is comfortable and allows you to move freely. There’s no point wearing anything that’s going to hold you back from enjoying yourself fully!

Footwear: No one wants to spend the whole night worrying about their shoes being ruined, so choose footwear that’s comfortable and appropriate for the venue. Concerts are typically crowded places where people drink alcohol which sometimes spills and makes the floor sticky. That’s why trainers, platforms, or sturdy boots are good choices

dress me, what to wear, using an app to decide what to wear

Layers: To fully enjoy the moment, it's a good idea to wear layers as the temperature in the venue may differ throughout the night. They say a h*e never gets cold, but we’d rather not be freezing all night (and still look cute, duh!).

Pair a t-shirt or tank top with a lightweight jacket or sweater. If you want to wear a skirt why not add some patterned tights or leg warmers to elevate the look.

Accessories: When it comes to concerts, everyone likes to dress a little nicer than usual, that’s just a fact of life. Accessories are the perfect way to spice up your outfit to make it something special. Add some statement earrings, cute headband or bucket hat if you’re feeling funky.

Consider the type of concert: We believe in personal style and wearing whatever you want anywhere you go (within reason!) but if you’re a little stuck, thinking about what kind of concert it is may help you figure out what to wear.

Get organised: No one likes flailing around at the last minute unsure what to wear, that’s why it’s great to use the Whering app to plan your outfits so you don’t have to stress hours before the concert starts.

That's our run down of what to wear and when, but there's no book of rules when it comes to personal style. It's most important to wear what you feel comfortable and confident in (and track your outfits on Whering, of course).
