What to Pack for a Beach Holiday | Alternative Guide

by Florenne Earle Ledger

You’ve seen the generic beach packing lists reminding you to bring pants, socks and a swimming costume, but what should you actually take on a beach holiday? We’re talking things you won’t think of, items you’re likely to forget.

✨PSA ✨these products stand as suggestions for you to take inspiration from and find similar items you already own. Only buy new if you need to.

Beach Essentials

Clothes You Feel Good in

The whole ‘bikini body’ narrative is getting old. What’s most important is that wherever you’re going, beach or not, you’re wearing clothes you feel your best in.

Bikinis and cropped pieces aren’t reserved for smaller bodies. Whatever your size, embrace your body and don’t hold back from showing skin if that’s your vibe.

Hats and Scarves

Probably not what you expected to see on a list of beach holiday essentials, but there’s no outfit that isn’t made instantly better by a hat or a scarf. Elevate your beach outfit with accessories.

As much as we love summer fashion, when it’s really hot it can be hard to dress fashionable as there’s less opportunities for layering and accessories due to the heat. Your beach babe status is pending, which is why you need a straw hat, cap or any kind of summer hat to take your look to the next level.

Hats don’t look good on everyone, that’s the tea. So if you’re not blessed by the hat gods, why not switch things up with a little scarf. Whether it’s the mini scarves that made Y2K fashion what it is, or a bandana style scarf that can be worn multiple ways - it’s sure to spice up your outfit without weighing you down.

Picnic Blanket

Possibly the most essential of all our beach essentials - a picnic blanket. For the best beach vibes, you need a good base. Whether you’re riding solo or with friends, a nice big picnic blanket (preferably with a cute print) is a great addition to your beach day.

Bag it

You’re gonna need something to take your essentials to the beach. A quality beach bag to last you years (that you can use even when you’re not at the beach) is a worthwhile investment.

Good Books

We know we’re a fashion app but we’re no stranger to a good book. It’s easy to forget a book when you’re so concerned with making sure you’ve got your sunscreen and towel, but a good book is ideal for when you need some entertainment post-dip.
